TOWER OF JUAN II |
Now we can either leave the Alcázar through a passageway or climb the stairs leading to the TOWER OF JUAN II, a superb example of Gothic civilian architecture, which was finished during the reign of Juan II's son, Enrique IV. From this tower we can get a beautiful view of Segovia. From this incomparable watchtower we also get a superb view of the park and the small Alcázar square. This square is closed off by a wrought iron gate, the main one crowned with a medallion of Fernando VII, who donated it in 1817 after the Peninsular War, on the occasion of the re-establishment of the School of Artillery in the Alcázar. |
