.5.  PINE-CONE ROOM

This room is so named because the main feature of its ceiling is similar to pine-cones. Angels with "pavesinas" (small oblong shields) bearing the coats of arms of Castile and Leon are the central ornament of the Gothic-Mudéjar frieze. In the lower part it has an inscription and the date of its carving, 1452, when Enrique IV was still a prince.

The walls are decorated with damasks and two Flemish tapestries dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The furniture consists of a 17th century gilded, coloured desk and stand, and several folding chairs, called "jamugas", one of which has ivory inlay.

The stained-glass window shows Alfonso VIII with his daughter Berenguela.
