.1.  OLD CASTLE ROOM

The construction of this room dates from the reign of Alfonso VIII. This is a rectangular hall which conserves the Romanesque double-arched windows that used to let light into the old castle until the second gallery was built. These windows were built in the last Romanesque style before the transition to Gothic, a period which was characterised by the Cistercian style. The skirting boards are made of Mudéjar stucco, with lace and stylised flower motifs painted in dark red on the white stucco.

In the centre we can see two big German-style equestrian suits of armour form the 15th century, and several suits of armour for foot-soldiers.
